A Valentine Wreath? Why not! Let me show you how to make a Valentine Wreath using IOD Moulds and Gold Leaf.
What’s more beautiful than a heart shaped wreath? And you don’t have to take it down after Valentine’s Day, this can be enjoyed year round.
Supplies used:
- Piece of Scrap Plywood
- Tightbond Glue or Aleene’s Tacky Glue
- IOD Air Dry Clay
- IOD Moulds
- Cornstarch
- Red and Orange Chalk Paint
- Gold Leaf
- Gilding Size
Part 1)
Paint your board using a technique you can watch below 👇
Part 2)
Using the IOD Laurel Mould make a bunch of the long leaf Moulds that will form the heart. Also make a Mould of the Bow from the Laurel Mould, this will be at the bottom of the heart wreath. Be sure to brush cornstarch into the Mould before you press the Air Dry Clay in to stop the Clay from sticking.
Part 3)
Take time to create your wreath composition by moving the still wet and pliable moulds around until you’re satisfied with your design.
Part 4)
Using Tightbond or Aleen’s Tacky Glue glue the Moulds down to your painted board. Let dry completely.
Part 5)
Using Gold Leaf gild select moulds to accent. Brush gilding size onto the Moulds, let it dry for about 5 minutes until it comes to tack (when you touch it it does not come off on your finger and feels sticky). Lay a sheet of the Gold Leaf onto the tacky size, press down to make good contact and brush off any excess leaf.
You can watch how to do this below 👇
